In Breath of the Wild: Heart pieces are gone in Breath of the Wild. This is on top of full heart containers that you get for completing major dungeons. These are quarter hearts that give you another life container once you collect four pieces. Besides dying less, it’s just fun spending more time running around leveling up and it gets you experience that makes the main quests easier. In other Zeldas: One of the most reliable collectible items in most previous Zelda games is the pieces of a heart container. If you haven’t played BotW you probably should get more hearts early than the game makes you like this post says. Maybe you get those two “mandatory” heart containers from shrines, then stamina until you can get the MS, then whatever you want. You can use armor, food, and one-hit-kill protection to make it through a lot. The one thing gated on hearts shows up late and only needs 10, only two of which have to come from non-tutorial shrines. If you played BotW, I think TotK rewards stamina more, relatively: five stamina upgrades unlock the Master Sword, and early stamina lets you travel further from towers. You unlock the Master Sword in TotK with stamina (not hearts) and there are more shrines. This page is copied from Breath of the Wild and…isn’t helping.
